Transport & looping

Playback controls on the performance screen manage play/stop, tempo, and how long your loop runs.

Play and stop

Tap Play to start the loop. Tap again to stop.

When stopped, the timeline shows Bar 1 / N · Beat 1.

While playing, the timeline moves in real time and pads flash when your recorded parts play back.

Transport panel while playing: timeline showing mid-loop position (e.g. Bar 2 / 8 · Beat 3). Optional recording indicator if armed.

Loop length

Set Loop length in Setup → Music from 4 to 32 bars.

Each loop in a song can have its own length. New loops default to 4 bars.

Tempo (BPM)

Tap BPM in the control bar to change tempo.

  • Default: 88 BPM
  • Tempo applies to the whole song (all loops share the same BPM)

Metronome

Turn on the metronome in the control bar for a click on each beat while the loop plays.

Handy for staying in time when recording. Separate from preroll.

Preroll

Turn on preroll for a four-beat count-in before recording starts.

During count-in, the timeline shows a countdown instead of the normal bar display. Recording begins after the fourth beat.

Preroll applies when recording on the performance screen — not when playing a full arrangement.

Timeline during arrangement playback

When you Play Arrangement from the song list, the timeline shows:

  • Which section you're in
  • Bar number within that section
  • The loop name for that section

See Songs, loops & arrangement.

Clear

The clear button (trash icon) removes all recordings on the armed track (synth, sample, or drums).

You'll be asked to confirm. Your sounds and mixer settings are not affected. Clearing also unlocks the track's instrument type — it re-types to whatever mode you're on.

Leaving the app

When ARC-24 goes to the background, playback stops, ARP stops, Hold latched notes clear, Chop and Clear pad modes reset, and drum/sample voices stop. Open the app again and press Play to continue.
