Track sound design
Each track (T1–T8) has its own settings in Sound Design → Track. Select a track tab at the top of the sheet — the pane follows the selected track's instrument:
- Synth track → Synth Settings (recipes, oscillator, envelope, filter, LFO — described below)
- Drum track → Drum Settings (kit + per-pad tuning; see Drum sound design)
- Sample track → Sampler Settings (Recording section only; pads, Keys mapping, and the Keys source are all edited on the Sampler performance screen)
Every pane ends with a Recording section — quantize (grid, strength, swing) and humanize for that track.
The synth pane is for voice design only. All channel effects (tone reverb, Atmosphere, Motion/Bloom, Character, delay, and the creative insert rack) live in one place: Mixer → FX. See Mixer.
Track types are automatic: a track becomes a synth, sample, or drum track based on what you record on it — there's no instrument switch to flip. Clear its loop to change type.
What's in the synth pane
| Section | What you adjust |
|---|---|
| Recipes | Ready-made sound presets |
| Oscillator | Up to two oscillators per voice. Osc 1 picks the main wave shape (sine, triangle, saw, square). Osc 2 is an optional layer — raise its Level above Off to add it, then set its own shape, Detune (0–50 cents, for analog-style thickness), and Octave (−1 / 0 / +1, for subs and shimmer). Levels are automatically balanced so stacking never clips |
| Envelope | Attack, decay, sustain, release — how the sound starts and fades |
| Filter | Cutoff and resonance — brightness and character |
| LFO | Slow wobble of the filter for movement |
| Preview | A mini keyboard to audition the sound — never records |
| Recording | Quantize (grid, strength, swing) and humanize for this track |
Everything else that shapes the channel — tone reverb, Atmosphere (Space Send, Chorus, Tape Wow), Motion/Bloom, Character (texture bed), BPM delay, and the creative inserts — is in Mixer → FX for that track.

Track signal flow (where each control lives)
Each T1–T8 channel processes audio in this order:
| Stage | Where you edit it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Synth voice | Sound Design → Track | Oscillators (up to 2), envelope, filter, LFO |
| EQ | Mixer → EQ | 3-band ±12 dB (200 Hz / 1 kHz / 6 kHz) |
| Character | Mixer → FX | Texture bed, air, stereo width, warmth |
| Insert FX | Mixer → FX | Filter, compressor, gate, distortion, bit-crush, ring mod, flanger, BPM delay |
| Tone reverb | Mixer → FX | Short color (no long tail) |
| Pan + fader | Mixer strip | Level and stereo placement |
| Atmosphere | Mixer → FX | Space Send, Chorus, Tape Wow (chorus → Freeverb → tape → width) |
| Motion | Mixer → FX | Motion Amount / Rate + Bloom — synth filter motion; Bloom on live hits for that track |
This same chain applies to synth, sample, and drum tracks (Motion/Bloom affect the synth filter; Chorus/Tape Wow apply to all instrument types).
Older songs: if a loop has no saved insert FX, delay settings migrate from the legacy track sound on load.
Recipes
21 built-in presets, grouped in the picker under Pads & Textures, Keys, Bass, and Leads & Plucks:
Evolving Cloud, Deep Space Drone, Rhythmic Swell, Twin Saws, Ensemble Strings, Nostalgic Tape, Drifting Tape Keys, Moog Keys, Mellotron Flutes, Rhodes EP, Felt Keys, Chapel Organ, Woody Lows, Analog Bass, Pure Sub, Hip-Hop Pocket, Shadow Lows, Phantom Sine Lead, Neon Lead, Glassy Rain, Glass Octaves
Twin Saws, Glass Octaves, Chapel Organ, Ensemble Strings, Neon Lead, and the reworked Analog Bass show off the Osc 2 layer — load one and open the Oscillator section to see how they're built.
Tap a recipe to load it on the selected track.
Saving your own recipes
After you tweak a sound:
- Tap the save icon in the header, or
- Tap Save Custom Recipe at the bottom of the Recipes section
Your custom recipes stay available across sessions. Custom recipes save the synth voice (both oscillator slots, envelope, filter, LFO), tone reverb, and delay (delay loads into Mixer → FX on apply) — not Atmosphere or Character (those stay per loop on the track, edited in Mixer → FX).

Preview keyboard
The Preview panel at the bottom lets you try the sound without recording. Use it while you dial in settings.
Channel effects (in Mixer → FX)
All of a track's effects open from the FX button on its Mixer strip or the FX pill in the performance extras row (Notes, Chords, Sampler, and Drums each open the appropriate sheet). Same processing order in both places:
- Character — texture, air, width, warmth (a slim “bed” on the track)
- Filter — resonant low-pass / high-pass
- Dynamics — compressor + gate
- Color — distortion, bit-crusher, ring modulator
- Modulation — flanger
- Time — BPM-synced delay (Digital / Analog / Tape)
- Reverb (Tone) — short color reverb; sweetens tone with no long room tail
- Atmosphere — Space Send, Chorus, and Tape Wow (chorus → Freeverb → tape → width)
- Motion — Motion Amount, Motion Rate, Bloom (toggle + amount) — slow filter motion on synth; Bloom opens the filter when you play live on that track
Atmosphere is send-style for Space Send: your dry level stays full and the tail is added on top — ideal for sustained notes and Hold mode. Start around 30–50% send for ambient beds. Chorus and Tape Wow color the stereo post chain on every instrument type.
Full details and the complete rack: Mixer → Insert FX.

Restore defaults
Restore Default Sound (synth pane) resets the synth voice — oscillator, envelope, filter, LFO, and the recipe-linked tone reverb. It does not touch Atmosphere, Motion, Character, or the insert rack — clear those with Reset in the Mixer → FX sheet.
Each loop can have different sounds
Sound settings (synth voice plus everything in Mixer → FX) save with the current loop. Loop 1 and Loop 2 can use completely different patches on the same track number.
Switching track tabs in Sound Design shows that track's settings for the active loop.
