Pulse mode

Pulse latches a note or drum pad so it retriggers on a tempo grid — like Hold, but rhythmic instead of sustained. Tap a pad to start pulsing; tap the same pad again to stop. Tapping a different pad replaces the previous one (one pulse at a time).

Pulse works in Notes and Drums. It is a session tool — not saved with songs.

Turning Pulse on

1. Switch to Notes or Drums
2. In the Extras row, tap Pulse
3. Choose a rate: 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, or 1/32 (or Off)

When Pulse is on, the extras button shows the active rate (e.g. 1/16) instead of “Pulse”. Tap it again anytime to change rate or turn Pulse off. Changing rate keeps the active latch and reschedules to the new grid.

How it works

Hits follow the song BPM. While the transport is playing, Pulse locks to the metronome grid. While stopped, it free-runs from BPM for jamming (nothing is recorded until you press Play).

The active pulsed pad shows an orange outline on the selected track. Other tracks can keep their own pulse when you switch tracks.

Recording

If the track is armed and the loop is playing, each pulse writes grid-locked hits into the loop (same idea as ARP). After one full loop cycle, Pulse auto-clears that track’s latch so the recorded loop plays back without doubling the live player.

Pulse, Hold, and ARP

These are mutually exclusive:

• Turning Pulse on turns Hold off and clears ARP on the selected track
• Choosing an ARP pattern turns Pulse off
• Hold is unavailable while Pulse (or ARP) is on

Erase still wins over Pulse input; enabling Erase clears Pulse latches.

MIDI

With Pulse on, MIDI note-ons in Notes or Drums toggle pulse membership the same way as pad taps. Note-offs are ignored for latching.
